How to claim the €1,000 Rent Tax Credit

Go to revenue.ie and sign in. No account? Register with your PPS number — it takes about 5 minutes and a confirmation posts out.
Open "PAYE Services" → "Manage Your Tax"
Select the current year (and any of the previous 4 years you also rented — each can be claimed separately).
Add the Rent Tax Credit
Under "Your Tax Credits", choose Add new credit → You and your family → Rent Tax Credit.
Enter your tenancy details
You'll need the landlord's name, the property address, your RTB number (if registered) and the rent paid that year. Have a lease or bank statement handy.
Submit & get paid
Submit the claim. Revenue issues a revised Statement of Liability and pays any refund to your bank — usually within 5 working days. Repeat for each backdated year.
