The important bit: The People's Pocket is information and education only. We are not regulated financial advisors, and nothing here is financial, legal or tax advice. Always check official government sources before making any decision.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using The People's Pocket ("the service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. These terms apply to all visitors, free subscribers and paying members.
2. Information only — not advice
Everything we publish is general information and educational content based on publicly available sources. We are not regulated financial advisors, accountants, solicitors or tax agents.
- Nothing on the service constitutes financial, legal, tax or investment advice.
- Grant amounts, eligibility rules, tax credits and entitlements change frequently and vary by individual circumstances.
- You must always verify information with the relevant official body — Revenue.ie, Gov.ie, GOV.UK, HMRC, your local council — before acting.
- Any action you take based on our content is your own responsibility.
3. Accounts
To access certain features you may create an account. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
4. Membership & payments
We offer a free tier and a paid membership (currently a limited Founding Member rate at €5/month for the first 100 members, rising to €9/month thereafter). For paid memberships:
- Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider (e.g. Stripe). We do not store your full card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled.
- Prices may change; we'll give existing members reasonable notice. Founding Member rates are locked as described at sign-up.
5. Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel your membership at any time from your account; access continues until the end of the current billing period. As the service provides digital content and access, refunds are at our discretion and in line with your statutory rights as a consumer in Ireland and the UK.
6. Acceptable use & community
When using the service or our community spaces, you agree not to:
- Post unlawful, abusive, misleading or harmful content.
- Present yourself as a financial advisor or give regulated advice to other members.
- Spam, scrape, or misuse the service or other members' data.
- Infringe anyone's rights or break any applicable law.
We may remove content or suspend access for breaches.
7. Intellectual property
The content, branding and design of The People's Pocket are owned by us or our licensors. You may read and use guides for your own personal benefit, but you may not republish, resell or redistribute our content without permission. Underlying public information (e.g. government grant rules) remains in the public domain.
8. Third-party links
The service links to third-party sites (such as government bodies and comparison services) so you can take action on what you find here. We do not currently run any affiliate links or paid placements. If we ever introduce them, we will disclose them clearly. We're not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The People's Pocket is not liable for any loss arising from your reliance on our content, from missed or rejected grant/credit applications, or from decisions you make. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy or completeness. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including your statutory consumer rights.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts. If you are a consumer in the UK, you retain the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law of your home nation.
