If something on this site is wrong, we want to know โ€” that is the first thing on this page for a reason. Below is how to reach us, and, just as importantly, an honest account of what we can and cannot help with.

A correction, or something that looks wrong

This is the one we most want to hear about. Rates change, schemes get replaced, and a page that was right in June can be wrong by October. If a figure on this site does not match the official source, tell us and we will fix it โ€” and say when we did.

General questions

Anything about how the site works, a guide you cannot find, or a scheme you think we should cover.

Press and media

We publish original figures on unclaimed entitlements across Ireland, Northern Ireland and England, and we are happy to explain the methodology behind any number we have published.

Charities, credit unions and advice services

Our benefits checker can be embedded free on your own website โ€” one line of code, we host and maintain it, and it costs you nothing. If it would help the people you work with, get in touch.

What we can and cannot do

Being straight about this saves everyone time, and matters more than usual on a site about money.

We can explain how a scheme works in plain English, point you at the official rules, tell you what the current rates are and where the figure came from, and correct anything on this site that is wrong.
We cannot give you personalised financial, legal or tax advice, look up or change your individual claim, contact the Department of Social Protection, Revenue, DWP or HMRC on your behalf, or tell you what a decision-maker will conclude in your case. We are an independent publisher, not an advice service and not a regulated adviser.

If you need someone to act on your case, the free services that can are Citizens Information and MABS in Ireland, and Citizens Advice in the UK. We would rather send you to them than pretend to be them.

Who you are actually emailing

The People's Pocket is written and run by one person, publishing as Zak Carolan. There is no support team and no ticketing system โ€” replies come from a real person, which also means they are not instant. We aim to answer within a few days, and corrections get looked at first.

We take no money from any bank, advertiser, supermarket or government body, run no adverts, and use no affiliate links. If that ever changes we will say so plainly โ€” see how we make money.

Common questions

How do I report a mistake on the site?

Email thepeoplespocket@gmail.com with the page and what looks wrong. Corrections are the first thing we deal with. If a figure does not match the official source we will fix it and update the review date on that page.

Can you tell me if I qualify for a payment?

Not personally โ€” we are a publisher, not an advice service, and we cannot see your circumstances or your claim. What we can do is explain the rules and show you the official criteria. Our free checker gives you a plain-English starting point, and Citizens Information, MABS or Citizens Advice can advise on your actual case.

Can you contact the Department or DWP for me?

No. We have no access to anyone's claim and no standing to act on your behalf. Citizens Information and MABS in Ireland, and Citizens Advice in the UK, can do this and it is free.

Do you charge for anything?

No. Every guide, tool and figure is free, with no paywall, no adverts and no affiliate links. The site runs on the founder's own time.

How quickly will I get a reply?

Usually within a few days. One person writes and runs the whole site, so replies are not instant โ€” corrections are prioritised over everything else.
