The Carer's Support Grant is money paid to carers once a year.
It used to be called the Respite Care Grant.
You can spend it any way you like. You do not have to use it for respite care.
In 2026 it was €2,000. It was paid on 4 June 2026.
It is paid in June, usually on the first Thursday.
You get it automatically if you get Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance.
Your income is not checked.
If you care for more than one person, you get a grant for each person.
If you do not get one of those payments, you may still qualify.
You must care for the person full-time for at least 6 months.
In that time, you cannot work more than 18.5 hours a week.
Fill in the form called CSG1.
For the 2026 grant, you can apply until 31 December 2027.
