SUSI Grant Calculator 2026/27

SUSI grants run from €612 to €7,936 a year in maintenance, and fee help goes up to household incomes of €120,000. This estimator uses SUSI's own 2026/27 income table and the same questions as its Eligibility Indicator. Nothing is saved.

Estimate your SUSI grant for 2026/27

For full-time undergraduate courses in Ireland, using SUSI's own 2026/27 income table. About a minute; nothing is saved.

An estimate, not a decision. SUSI assesses "reckonable" income, which excludes some payments and can differ from what you enter. If your income has fallen permanently since 2025, you can ask to be assessed on current income.

How SUSI works out your grant

SUSI looks at gross household income for 2025, from all sources, for whoever is assessed: usually the parents, or the student and any partner if they are independent. Some payments are left out, including Child Benefit, Carer's Allowance, Fuel Allowance and Domiciliary Care Allowance.

That income is compared with thresholds that depend on how many dependent children are in the household. Each other person in the household already in full-time college raises every threshold, by €4,950 or €4,785 depending on the band.

The 2026/27 maintenance rates

The special rate is €7,936 a year if home is 30km or more from college, or €3,230 if it is closer. Band 1 pays €4,722 or €1,774, falling to €1,866 or €612 at Band 4. Above Band 4 there is no maintenance, but fee support continues, and a €500 contribution grant reaches €120,000 of income for smaller families.

The special rate needs two things: income under the special-rate line, and a long-term social welfare payment in the household on 31 December 2025.

Common questions

How much is the SUSI grant for 2026/27?
Maintenance ranges from €612 to €7,936 a year depending on income and distance from college, plus support with tuition fees or the student contribution. A €500 student contribution grant goes up to €120,000 of household income for families with fewer than 4 dependent children.
Which year's income does SUSI use for 2026/27?
Gross income from all sources for 1 January to 31 December 2025. If income has fallen permanently since, you can ask SUSI to assess current income.
What is the 30km rule?
The non-adjacent (higher) rate is paid if the student's home is 30km or more from college; the adjacent rate if it is under 30km.
Does having another child in college help?
Yes. Each other person in the household in full-time further or higher education raises the income thresholds, by €4,950 or €4,785 depending on the band.
