Who can get it — the full rules
You must be 18 or over, own the property (with any co-owners' consent), and be "Be providing (or have provided) accommodation for at least 6 months to at least one person covered by the EU Temporary Protection Directive". Someone must live there on the last day of each month you're paid for.
"You cannot get this payment if there is a rental agreement with the person being hosted." Guests chipping in for food and utilities is fine. "Since 3 March 2026, new ARP applications are not accepted for properties that have been registered with the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) at any time since 4 March 2022."
Tax and means tests
"It is not taken into account in the means test for any grants or payments from the Department of Social Protection or other public bodies." So hosting doesn't cut your pension, Carer's Allowance or medical card.
How to apply
Apply on MyWelfare with your PPS number, the Eircode and the names and PPS numbers of the people you host. You don't have to wait 6 months to apply. "The ARP can be backdated for up to 6 months."
