Public holidays: the 10 dates and what you're owed

The short answerIreland has 10 public holidays a year. For each one, you're owed a paid day off, an extra day of annual leave, an extra day's pay, or a paid day off within a month: your employer chooses. Full-timers qualify straight away; part-timers once they've worked 40 hours in the last 5 weeks.

Good Friday isn't a public holiday, whatever your employer does. If a public holiday falls on a day you don't work, a qualifying part-timer still gets a fifth of a week's pay.
