How much
"The support rate under this scheme is 80%." "The grant aid cap per vessel under the current call is €30,000, and only one application is allowed for each vessel under this call."
"Some 87% of grants awarded in the previous call were for €30,000 or less." The cap was introduced so that more vessels could be funded from each call.
When it opens
"Current Call under the EMFAF Operational Programme 2020 -2027 Opening Date: 18 November 2025 Closing Date for Receipt of Applications: 30 December 2025". Calls are announced on bim.ie with drop-in information sessions for applicants and agents; applications go through the BIM Grants Portal.
The rule that costs people the grant
"Applicants are also strongly advised to wait for an offer of grant aid before starting work or incurring expenditure." BIM also carries out a site visit before approval, and no expenditure can be incurred until the email after that visit.
