Young farmer supports: about €150 a hectare for 5 years, and the rest

The short answerIf you're 40 or under, have a Level 6 farming qualification and set up as head of your holding in the last 5 years, the Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers pays about €150 a hectare on up to 50 hectares, for up to 5 years. The National Reserve can also give you payment entitlements.

On 50 hectares, that's around €7,500 a year (our sum: 50 × €150). Young farmers also get 100% stock relief, stamp duty relief under 35, and the 60% TAMS rate.
