The fee
"In 2026, the Leaving Cert examination fee was €116." External and repeat candidates may pay more. Pay online through the State Examinations Commission with your exam number.
Free with a medical card
There's no fee if "You had a medical card which was valid on or between 1 January 2026 and 30 April 2026, or" "You were covered for all services on your parent or guardian's full medical card." Apply for the exemption on the SEC website.
"Note: You are not eligible for the fee exemption if you have a GP visit card."
Mock exams
"The State Examinations Commission is not responsible for mock exams." Any mock charge is the school's, usually for papers or external correction.
